  • Under 23 World Champion (2003)

  • 2 times World Champion (2008, 2010)
  • 2 times European Champion (2007, 2009)
  • 4th in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games
  • Winner of 12 World Cup events
  • Winner of 2 Dextro World Championship Series events

There is only one triathlete in the world who can say “these results are mine”; he comes from Galicia, although he was born in Basel (Switzerland) on March 25, 1983, and his name is Javier Gómez Noya.

Javi is an exceptional triathlete: he can swim the 1500 m in under 16 minutes in a short course pool (in fact, he owns the Galician record in the distance), so his presence in the lead pack of the bike segment is basically guaranteed. Tremendously strong also on the two wheels, he is always among the best, whatever the course and whatever the environmental conditions might be. There is only one thing that can be said about his running ability: he is simply the best (in hard competition with young Briton Alistair Brownlee). Javi can destroy his rivals in this triathlon segment, setting a pace right from transition that only a fistfull of triathletes are ususally able to sustain… but not for long.

This great champion is without a doubt one of the best triathletes of all times, and he is also a simple and humble guy, nice and affable, who honoured me by accepting to be the next guest in the section “Interviews with the elite”.

You know how it works: if you wish to ask Javi a question you can do so through the comment section of this post before November 12.
