Lecturing and consulting around the world

No blog posts since September 2nd! I’ve been meaning to post something for a while now, but I never seemed to find the time, the energy or the inspiration to do it. The main reason for this dry spell is that I have been lecturing and consulting away lately, and going around the world (several times, I should say) while doing so.

Let’s see: on September 2nd I flew to Bogotá, Colombia, to lecture at the 4th International Congress on Sports Training; still in September, I lectured for the medical doctors of the Netherlands Olympic Committee not far from Amsterdam; and at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute International Congress in Mexico City.

In October I only spent eight days at home, as I lectured at the Association of Summer Olympic Sports of Russia Coaches Conference in the outskirts of Moscow; then at the Russian Olympic Innovation Center in Moscow, and the Russian Swimming Federation National Coaching Conference in Volgograd. The very next day I flew to Italy for the 9th International Conference on Strength Training in Abano Terme. From there to Las Vegas, U.S.A., to lecture at the U.S.A. Track & Field National Podium Education Project, which was followed by a day of meetings with my colleagues of INSEP in Paris, France.

November was not different from October in terms of air miles, as I did the opening lecture at the 10th Australian Strength and Conditioning Association International Conference on Applied Strength and Conditioning in Melbourne; from there to the Singapore Sports Institute Annual Symposium 2014 on New Frontiers in Elite Sports Performance; and then the Polish Olympic Coaches Conference, Rio de Janeiro 2016 in Spala, Poland (where I finally had a chance to see the wonderful European bison).

I was home the last ten days of November, before travelling to Mexico again in December, this time to lecture at the Master Degree on High Performance in Team Sports that has been “exported” from Barcelona for the first time; then I flew back to Madrid for the VII International Symposium on Strength Training; a couple of days home and off to Chile for the V International Congress on Sport Science. In fact, I returned from Chile today.

In between that crazy travel program, I’ve also been testing athletes in Mediplan Sport, here in Vitoria-Gasteiz, writing a couple of scientific papers, finishing up a book chapter, starting to work on a new book project, and of course training, watching films at the cinema and surfing whenever I had a chance! The swell forecast for the next few days is looking good, so I should have the opportunity to finish the year catching waves with my friends and enjoying the Basque Country with my family. Happy holidays to everybody!
